Castellano / English bellow

Grid-in Box is a project by Ramón González Palazón involving a theatrical intervention in public spaces where the viewer can interact directly with the work, generating effects by sending text messages via mobile phone or images and texts from a website expressly created for the purpose (htttp://www.gridinbox.com).

The intervention consists of a Grid-in cube (2.5m x 2.5m x 2.5m) on which the information received is projected in real time. What the artist attempts is to "colonise both object and place through an industrial approach to the artwork" while at the same time "generating a communicational cube which can be used by the public to interact using messages or images, expressing anything the artist could not or did not know how to create".

Grid-in Box was located in calle Cucharadas in Mula on the evening of Saturday 24th January 2009. Scores of anonymous participants sent SMS and images from Murcia and many other places around the world. During ARCOmadrid, visitors will have another chance to send their SMS or images in real time to Mula in what is an updating for the 21st century of the tradition of the visual happening or collective creation.

Ramón Gonzalez Palazón was born in Mula, Spain. His art projects make the most of the possibilities offered by interactive devices to generate new readings of physical spaces. Using a mixed media vocabulary cut across by light and sound landscapes, painting and sculptures and touch screens, González Palazón advocates experimenting with new sensations.
