Alerting Infrastructure! es un registro físico de impactos que transforma las entradas a la web de una organización en daño físico real en el interior del edificio que dicha web u organización representan. La obra aspira a hacernos conscientes de que, poco a poco, el espacio físico pierde terreno frente al virtual. La proporción de daño estructural en el edificio guarda relación directa con el grado de exposición y atención logrado por la web, con el consiguiente riesgo físico a la existencia temporal de la estructura física.

En esta instalación, cada nuevo acceso virtual a la web del Centro Cultural Puertas de Castilla envia una orden a un martillo neumático que, poco a poco, irá destruyendo las paredes de la instalación física montada en el Pabellón de Techformance en ARCO de Madrid.

En el contexto de Techformance, Alerting Infrastructure! alude a los planteamientos reivindicativos de movimientos artísticos fundamentales en la historia de la performance en el siglo XX, como Fluxus, acerca de la necesidad de "Destruir el Museo".

Hasta la fecha, el proyecto ha sido realizado en nueve países (Irlanda, Perú, Brasil, EEUU, España, Canadá, Bélgica, Alemania y Holanda).

Jonah Brucker-Cohen es un investigador y artista que en la actualidad prepara su doctorado en el Equipo de Diseño Disruptivo del Grupo de Investigación de Redes y Telecomunicaciones (NTRG) del Trinity College de Dublín. Su trabajo y tesis se centran en la "Deconstrucción de Redes", un tema que abarca proyectos dirigidos a cuestionar y subvertir las percepciones asumidas sobre la interacción y la experiencia con redes. Su obra ha sido expuesta en exposiciones y acontecimientos de instituciones como el San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) (2008), Museum of Modern Art (MOMA - NYC)(2008), Institute of Contemporary Art in London (2004), Whitney Museum of American Art's ArtPort (2003), Ars Electronica (2002,04,08), ZKM Museum of Contemporary Art (2004-05), Dutch Electronic Art Festival (2003,04), Art Futura (2004), SIGGRAPH (2000,05), ISEA (2002,04,06) y el Chelsea Art Museum.

Alerting Infrastructure! is a physical hit counter that translates hits to the web site of an organisation into interior damage of the physical building that web site or organisation represents. The focus of the piece is to amplify the concern that physical spaces are slowly losing ground to their virtual counterparts. The amount of structural damage to the building directly correlates to the amount of exposure and attention the web site gets, thus exposing the physical structure's temporal existence.

In this installation, with each new virtual hit to the Centro Cultural Puertas de Castilla website, the jackhammer slowly destroys the walls of the physical installation at Techformance Pavilion at ARCOmadrid, Spain.

From the perspective of Techformance Alerting Infrastructure! points to the claim of artistic movements, very important in the history of performance in the 20th century, such as Fluxus, for the need to "Destroy The Museums".
